FNB customers uses digital channels to win $5.7 million LOTTO jackpot
On 18 January 2018, South African bank, First Nation Bank (FNB), revealed that two lucky customers had won over R 70 million in successive LOTTO Powerball Draws after buying their tickets on FNB Online Banking and the FNB Banking App. The first customer won $5.7 million(R70 million) on 12 January while another walked away with $205 thousand (R2.5 million) on Tuesday, 16 January 2018.
“Congratulations to the two customers for their massive wins; it’s definitely a great way to start off the year,” says Shadrack Palmer, FNB Chief Commercial Officer, FNB Connect.
He advises that, “A LOTTO Jackpot is great news but we have to be cognisant of prevailing economic conditions and rising household costs. The bank encourages winners to get financial advice or draw up a financial plan that will help them manage, save and invest their money. Without this solid financial blueprint, your winnings can disappear faster than it actually should.”
The bank revealed that in the past 2 years, over R575 million has been won by FNB customers who played LOTTO and PowerBall through FNB’s Digital Channels, which includes R329 million shared amongst 15 Jackpot winners.
Customers can play LOTTO and PowerBall conveniently via the FNB Banking App, Cellphone and Online Banking and can even purchase tickets using their eBucks.
