On Tuesday, 06 March 2018, Lenovo revealed their 2018 trends as well as previewed some of their latest products. The company also announced the launch of their new Lenovo Legion gaming line, as well as the latest Lenovo Yoga convertible laptops in the South African market.
Speaking about the company’s strategy, Thibault Dousson, General Manager Lenovo South Africa said, “Our vision is to maintain PC leadership, this is our base, it is the most important part of our business, we are a hardware manufacturer, and it is important that we lead in that space. Lenovo is about product, connectivity and giving the best combination to our customers."
“The second part of our strategy is to build on what we acquired in 2014, which is the Motorola business as well as the data centre business,” added Dousson.
To meet the evolving needs of the gaming community, Lenovo announced that it is launching a new gaming sub-brand, Lenovo Legion. This, according to the company, will provide customers with the products, community engagement, and immersive experiences that will drive their passion for PC gaming.
The new Lenovo Legion Y720 Laptop and Lenovo Legion Y520 Laptop
The two gaming laptops are designed for mainstream and enthusiast players, they offer gamers state-of-the-art technology to allow them to fully immerse in the game. They allow for a greater gaming experience —powering VR through the latest NVIDIA graphics, better sound with Dolby Atmos, and increased performance with the latest 7th Gen Intel Core i7 processor. The Legion Y720 is available starting at ZAR 24,999 and the Legion Y520 is available starting at ZAR 13,999.
Yoga 920

Yoga 720 and 520

As these multitaskers constantly flip between work and play, Lenovo built the Yoga 720 and 520 for them, available in 13 and 14-inch models respectively. For those looking for a wafer-thin device, the company designed the 13-inch Yoga 720 that’s 17 percent thinner than before at just 14.3mm. The Yoga 720 (13-inch) is available starting at ZAR 19,999 and the Yoga 520 (14-inch) is available starting at ZAR 8,999.
Further detailing the company’s plans, Dousson said, “Another important factor for the company is the big data revolution. We use it to extract insight and create value. It is about taking the big data insight and using it to make your services better and keep the competition at bay.”
“At Lenovo we see the big data revolution as a means to be able to accelerate our revenue, to be better at operations and it allows us to get new businesses. There are about 12 000 different applications that we collect data from. The data helps us get to know our customers better,” concluded Dousson.
