KUALA LUMPUR (March 15): The Securities Commission (SC) said the Malaysian bond market grew 10.1% to RM1.29 trillion in 2017 from RM1.17 trillion in 2016. The SC said foreign investors gradually returned to the bond market in 2017 at the beginning of the second quarter.

In its Annual Report 2017, the SC said Malaysia maintained its position as Asia's third-largest local currency bond market in terms of percentage of gross domestic product. Malaysia trailed Japan and South Korea, according to the SC.
